The Plastic Bottle Cap Report
Billions of plastic bottles are sold and opened every day and many of the bottle caps end up in our oceans and on our beaches.
Marine mammals, fish and birds see plastic bottle caps as food, which can lead to ingestion and potentially fatal consequences. Many plastic bottle caps are also found in the North Sea.
This Report presents the findings of the North Sea Foundation’s first “bottle cap survey”. The survey shows the quantity, type and origins of the bottle caps that pollute the North Sea and its beaches. This research is important not only because it is the first time that pollution from plastic bottle caps has been researched this thoroughly, but also because it successfully address the issue at its source.
