Prepare for the great nurdle invasion, as a wave of 1 billion plastic pellets bears down on WA
Plastics granules in the billions have been spilt into the sea near Durban South Africa and now some of these are being washed up on the shores of Western Australia one year later. Sadly many of these may have been ingested by birds and sea-life. Hopefully they will poop these out as they are indigestible but relatively small and round. This highlights the need to stringent controls on the shipping and decantation of plastics on land as well as when moved by ship. We need to catch plastics on land before they can enter the environment.
