Plastic in roads – plastic bottles and bags recycled to build roads
Plastic in roads, what do we mean by that? Engineers and chemistry experts have developed a process that allows us to use local plastic waste in the construction of roads. The process creates plastic pellets from bottles and bags and melts them into asphalt making stronger roads and producing less waste. The UK and India are leading the way with, respectively, the Councils of Dumfries and Galloway, Cumbria and Enfield already testing plastic roads and more than 21,000 miles of plastic roads already in place in the country.
